About the Project
Implemented in the aftermath of the Srinagar floods, this project supports the recovery of traditional Paper Mache craft clusters by strengthening artisan enterprises and building
resilience through end-to-end cluster development. SSA facilitated skill enhancement, cooperative formation, and enterprise building to help artisans regain sustainable livelihoods.
The initiative combines social recovery with business rehabilitation — ensuring artisans not only rebuild their livelihoods but also thrive in competitive markets through improved design, quality, and sustainability.
Key Achievements

Empowered 600 artisans in Srinagar through skill development, enterprise strengthening, and design innovation.

Facilitated the creation of artisan cooperatives and a Producer Company for collective growth and governance.

Implemented a comprehensive cluster development intervention, enhancing artisans’ resilience and market readiness.

Achieved 25% increase in artisan incomes through improved product quality and diversified market access.

Enhanced global visibility of Kashmir crafts through international trade shows and capacity-building in business management, sustainability, and marketing.
