About the Project

SSA undertook a detailed scoping and feasibility study to identify potential handloom clusters in Western Odisha, particularly in Nuapada, Bargarh, and Subarnapur districts. The study aimed to understand the local weaving ecosystem, assess artisan potential, and design a strategic plan to enhance income and livelihood security through cluster-based interventions.

  • Conducted comprehensive desk research and secondary data analysis to shortlist potential handloom clusters.

  • Undertook extensive field assessments to evaluate artisan engagement, cluster potential, and local value chains.

  • Carried out gap analysis identifying needs in skill development, technology integration, and market access.

  • Developed detailed implementation plans for cluster development, focusing on design, innovation, and market expansion.
